Not bad at all

Date:October 1, 2011
Product Highlights: convenient tablet format, usb stick input
I bought this mainly because of the tablet format, which I can mount on a stand that I use when on my treadmill. Plays DVDs okay, average resolution for the 7" screen, but plenty adequate. The USB stick input is a plus. Like others, I could not get the AVI function to work. However, I used Any Video Converter to change a short AVI file to NTSVC DVD format and the video played successfully as an MPG file. I would rather convert files than burn in DVDs if I don't have to. Like all new devices, charge for at least eight hours for the first few times. This type of battery should charge from dead to full within six hours normally. I bought this on sale for 40% off and I think that is an excellent buy.
Features: 4/5 because there is no video input (such as from a cable box); Quality 3/5 because I would like to see a more rigid frame and rubber periphery; Value 3/5 because the regular price is slightly too high compared to other such products, but the sale price I paid was splendid.

Good DVD player, but it is no media player

Date:October 26, 2011
I bought this for my kids on the road. It does that quite well with one minor annoyance: if you exert any pressure on the back of the tablet, the spinning disc will touch the lid and make some rattling noise. Battery life is more than enough for one movie.
I found I am also using it to watch DVD at home because it will play many DVDs that my Sony DVD player refuses to play. Video quality is acceptable on the 400x234 screen but the external video quality is below average compared to home DVD players.
As a picture viewer, it is on par with other models with similar resolution- photos appear a little grainy.

Ok - no AVI files !!!!

Date:May 10, 2011
In the description it says it plays avi files (divx) but this unit does NOT play those files! I have tried it from the usb port, and also from burning an avi file to a dvd and trying to play it. It says wrong file content....
The source should remove the AVI file reference from the description. That is the only reason I bought this thing.

Great little buy

Date:November 29, 2011
Nice portable DVD player. Perfect size - screen is not too big or too small. I use it to take with me when travelling so I can continue my exercise routine which involves DVDs. Only glitch is that sometimes it takes a long time to initially load the disc.
