Perfect for Netflix

Date:February 5, 2012
Once I moved my wifi sending modem close enough the boxxee worked fine. Its currently about 6 feet from the unit. there was no signal strength indicator. Netflix workss great though there is no genre search, you have to know what you are looking for, brouse doesn't work as well. some of the apps have worked and some have not. many of the movies in the boxxee library are available for watching with a subscription or rental fee. boxxee won't let you watch anything that isn't licenced. youtube has some movies for free but also some for rent. We liked the channels. there were many shows on discovery , history, space, and cbc that we have watched. I wonder how often these are updated. we are still figuring this boxxee thing out.the remote is kind of cool. the only thing I would change would be a light up keyboard and a very clear front and back. in the dark the remote feels pretty much the same both directions and the wrong buttons get pushed. I bought this unit on sale and I sure am glad. If i had paid full price I would have been dissapointed.

Best streamer

Date:November 18, 2012
Product Highlights: network steaming, original desing, full 1080p hd, usb sd lan wan
I tried something a bit cheaper at first because I didn't need to view online stuff and could care less about Netflix and all. Then I had to switch back to the Boxee Box, my original choice, as the cheaper option turned to be inappropriate. I needed to cut the cord between the PC and the TV to reduce the wires running around the room. The Boxee Box and my router are next to the TV whereas the PC is farther connecting WLAN to the router via the 5GHz channel. This leaves the 2.4 GHz channel free of interference for streaming which is used by the Boxee Box and also allows for a cable connection without any cable showing. This, simply put, just works. Beware of negative reviews dating back the original firmware and the noobs of this world not buying the right product for their needs. It can play any format of music, video and non raw picture files on my network without lag in the reading. Everything takes a little time to load, but once the reading is started its flawless even seeking in blu-ray movies. The music player sorts by Artists and Albums only, but as I organize my library by Genre and create equal playlists, the player will launch my playlist after a few seconds to load it up and has the option to shuffle and loop. As a photographer shooting in Nikon, I,m a bit sad it loads the NEF raw format of my pictures in a very clunky pixelized fashion, but any regular format is superb if you have an HD TV, that is. If you are looking for network streaming on any platform this is what you are looking for, if you are more a hard core web content seeker, look at Roku, Apple, Google/Sony TV sets, but this guy here is sticking with Boxee Box.

Wait for Firmware Updates

Date:January 6, 2011
Product Highlights: Size, Easy to Setup, Design
I bought the Boxee Box for Netflix which may or may not arrive the end of January. I've owned a DSM-320 and currently have a DSM-750 Media Center Extender. The Boxee doesn't do Windows Media Center. Although it should work seamlessly it does have issues connecting to Windows Media Player upnp and D-Link Media Lounge upnp.
It does however with the proper set-up access Windows 7 SMB fileshares. To date the Boxee has not hung or crashed unlike both the other D-Link Media Extender products.
I hope D-Link gets it's act together and makes the Boxee Box an Apple TV killer.

Not Impressed

Date:September 10, 2012
I am very disappointed with my new Boxee Box. I cannot get it to connect to my wireless network. I have to run a cable all through my house to connect. I even called the tech support did what they told me but still no improvement. I got it to watch netflix I'm sorry now I didn't buy another playstation as my son uses that with no problems at all and wouldn't have spent anymore money

Haven't had the full experience of using it yet!

Date:May 14, 2012
To begin with, had to phone Boxee to get onliine. They don't tell you that you have to download updates to get online. After getting the download & loading into Boxee things went smoothly setting up with my internet account & getting it to work. The first time I haven't had much play time with it.

Intelligent Unit

Date:July 2, 2012
This is a smart little unit that will give you a full flavour of internet based option on your non-smart TV. My only complaint is the price. Considering how versatile blu-ray players are becoming on making transforming your TV into a smart unit and their competitive prices.

This thing does everything I can stream from my laptop to the boxee wirelessly also it collects all the tv shows readily available on the internet and puts it in a format similliar to netflix also it has every app you can think of including netflix. Makes apple tv look like garbage
